Julia Wells, NASM CPT, ACE CPT is a Certified Personal Trainer by both the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE) – global leaders in evidence-based certifications and advanced credentials for health & fitness professionals. She has been Fitness Director at In Shape since 2012, and has been an integral part of Driven by empathy and experience from her own struggles with weight, she has a fierce passion for motivating people to strive to achieve a fit and healthy body, inside and out.
In addition to Personal Training, Julia is also a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and licensed Zumba® Fitness instructor, with experience teaching both traditional Zumba and Zumba Gold® for beginners, older adults and people with disabilities. She is a also certified instructor in the IM=X method of Pilates on Pilates Reformer.
A strong advocate of taking an integrated approach to fitness, Julia includes a variety of training elements in all of her customized programs and group workouts. When combined with healthy eating, this approach develops overall excellent health and leads to optimized performance.
Julia was featured as “Person of the Week” in Branford’s local newspaper “The Sound” in 2011 for hosting a charity Zumbathon® for the American Heart Association and promoting healthy lifestyles for local residents. Julia’s Zumba Gold® program was featured on BCTV, and she uses social media to post tips on fitness and nutrition on a regular basis. She practices yoga, loves to dance and play tennis, and resides here in Branford.
